MarketMuse Analysis from the AI Content Generation Scorecard & Analysis Report

Key Considerations
• Robust research and briefing tools: One of the most vital features of MarketMuse.
• Weak AI content generation capabilities: These still need work; significant editing is required to get content ready for publishing.
• An abundance of video and text tutorials: These are helpful when getting started.

MarketMuse’s origins stem from search engine optimization (SEO), which provides marketers and SEOs ability to conduct topic research. The AI content generation tool was built after the initial development of the overall platform, making it stronger as a good base for topic research and a strong tool for content auditing.
The platform structure means that the briefing process, for instance, develops each piece of content’s model at the research stage. The approach is topic modeling.

Marketers are familiar with the need to include keywords and write content around them, but the use of topics is broader than keywords, including keywords and ensuring coverage of a topic includes all related issues. The platform enables a determination of whether content is covering a subtopic and whether competitors are covering these. The briefing process isn’t intuitive initially but MarketMuse provides videos and descriptions of it. Once this introduction phase is completed, users can be off and running; however, we recommend following the FAQs and guide to get started.

MarketMuse develops a customized model using Natural Language Processing (NLP), which enables the tool to become an expert on a specific topic, optimized for a website. To create an outline brief, enter a topic and an URL, after which MarketMuse produces a brief report. Topics, questions, and URLs can then be edited.
Once that’s finished, a first draft can be ordered. Don’t be confused when scrolling to the optimized view when the content from the original link is duplicated on the page. Wait for the first draft to be delivered, then review the content. The first draft is in the second column, alongside the content copied from the URL initially entered. Then pull content from the first draft onto the Optimize View page and edit that AI-generated content. The optimized view workspace becomes the working version of an article. We saw several issues with the AI-generated content we ran and it required considerable editing. There is a service offered to create briefs for users, including by persona for an extra fee.

The tool uses a proprietary AI engine for their content database rather than Open.AI’s GPT-3. Based on our testing, MarketMuse is a robust briefing tool with room for improvement on the AI content generation end, though it can be an excellent tool for SEOs and content
audits.
